Description
An RYA Yachtmaster Certificate of Competence means a skipper is competent on a yacht for passages up to 150nm from shore (20nm for Coastal).
The Offshore/Coastal Yachtmaster is achieved through an exam that involves excercises, challenges and tasks from any part of the syllabus to demonstrate the skippers ability and confidence.
We will help you prepare, putting you in the best position for the exam.
Duration: 6 days in total, preparation covering all the skills needed, followed by the exam which can take up to 8 hours per candidate.
Conditions and requirements
Exam Pre-requisites: A GDMSS Short Range Certificate (SRC) or higher marine radio certification is required. As well as a valid first-aid certificate
Minimum Age: 17
Yachtmaster Coastal Exam Pre-requisites:
Minimum sea time: 30 days, 2 days as skipper, 800 miles, 12 hours at night
Yachtmaster Offshore Exam Pre-requisites:
Minimum sea time: 5 days at sea, 2,500 miles, including at least 5 passages of more than 60 miles, as skipper for at least 2 of these passages, including 2 overnight passages. 5 days of experience as skipper.

Duration: 6 days, 4 of which are for practical preparation and 2 days are dedicated to exams (8 hours per candidate).
The exam will include an assessment of skippering skills, boat handling, general seamanship, navigation, safety awareness, knowledge of the IRPCS, meteorology and signals.
The price does not include 200€ for the costs of the examiner or meals for the week.
